Technical description of the safety system of the boom-type bridge testing machine
I. Description of protective devices
- The machine is designed for maximum loads: when the load on the cylinders of the main boom and jib is exceeded by 1.25 times, their operation is blocked. The maximum load limiter can be designed and installed according to customer requirements.
- The machine is equipped with an anemometer for monitoring wind speed (0-30 m/s) in real time. At force 5 wind conditions, an alarm is activated; at force 6 wind conditions, all platform movements are blocked.
- The basic configuration does not include a horizontal stabilization system for the cradle platform, but a device that guarantees a deviation of no more than 5° over the entire working area can be installed upon request.
- Each degree of mobility is equipped with locking mechanisms that limit the working area.
- A blocking device for lifting/rotating the boom when the supports are not extended is implemented.
- A blocking device for adjusting the supports during operation is installed: height adjustment is possible only with the superstructure fully folded.
- An emergency lowering system is provided in case of hydraulic, electric drive, or pump failure.
- The basic version does not have a device for evacuating personnel from the cradle below the level of the base of the lift (available by special order).
- A support lock is equipped, preventing spontaneous extension/rotation when movement.
- The slope sensor in the rotary unit activates an alarm in case of critical deviations along the longitudinal/transverse axis.
- There is a duplicated (from the cradle and the ground control panel) emergency engine shutdown system with a "STOP" button.
- Duplex radio communication is installed for prompt interaction between personnel on the platform and the ground.
II. Requirements for the operation of protective systems
- According to a special requirement: all safety devices must disable the corresponding functions of the lift.
- When the protection is triggered, the associated movement stops, but the power unit remains active.
III. Overload limiter functionality (Available upon request):
- Audible warning when approaching the rated lifting capacity;
- Disabling the lifting/reach adjustment mechanisms when the load is exceeded by 110%;
- For double-cradle versions: the alarm and blocking are triggered by the total load of both platforms.
